The 1089 Trick

Before you start this really cool trick, find a book or a dictionary that has 108 pages. Turn to the 108^th page and count down 9 words. Write down the word or do your best to remember the word!!

Ask the person you are performing the trick on to write down a 3 digit number on a piece of paper. Let’s say they pick 476. Note… numbers that end or start with 0 cannot be picked.

Take the number 476 and reverse it. You should get 674. Subtract the smaller number from the bigger number.

674 – 476 = 198

Now take the number 198 and reverse it. You should get 891. Add the two numbers together.

891 + 198 = 1089

You’ve done it!! Now ask the person to flip to page 108 and find the 9^th word. Slowly spell it out to them as if you are reading through the book! They will be amazed!!!
